Silt Fence
hydro 1:
All,
I am looking to see if anyone does any silt fence installation. Looking at buying a used burshland plow.
Wondering if any one could fill me in price ranges folks are getting for installing? i understand that no one want to disclose there pricing, but just a range.
Also any tricks to the trade they could share would be great.
Thank

I have installed alot of silt fence over the years. It can be very easy and it can be very hard. It all depends on where it is going. We used a eagle trencher at an airport that worked great. It dug a narrow trench as deep as we needed and also piled the dirt on one side that we used to bury the bottom "flap" with after the fence was installed. We used this setup whenever we could. We also had a plow that also worked fairly well. It dug the trench wider than was needed and also pulled up alot of dirt. Alot of what we did had to be dug by hand because of where it was going and using equipment was out of the question. I believe today prices are around $2.50 to $3.00 per foot installed. Alot depends on the type and quality of fence that is required. Some is single sided, some is reinforced or double sided. The biggest problem with bidding silt fence was knowing where it was going but even then if we knew it was all going to be done by hand we couldn't really raise the price enough to really cover the labor or we would loose the entire job. We never bid just silt fence. It was always apart of the seeding as well. Or I should say if we got the silt fence then we got the seeding as well.

i can tell you right now silt fence goes for less then 2.50 all the time... I see silk socks from 2.50 - 3.00
All depends on who wants the work.
