cost of hydroseeding

I just had 5,000 sq ft filled in and was wondering about how much I would expect to spend to have the area hydroseeded.

It would help to know the area that you live. Seeding cost can vary according to seed types, mulch requirements, accessibility, and other factors. hydroseeeding prices can start at 4 or 5 cents per sqft and in some areas, be as much as 10 or 12 cents per sqft. It should be noted that just because your seeding contractor is charging the 10 or 12 cents, that doesnt nessicarily mean he is making more money than the contractor that is charging 4 or 5 cents. When the price of materials is figured in, along with the price of equipment, the high price seeding contractor might be making less than the lower priced one. Chooseing a contractor that can explain to you the proper maintenance of your new turf and will give a warranty on your seeding will naturally cost more than a contractor that just shows up and seeds and leaves.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the question.  I might be able to give you a better answer if I knew where you were.   I can't give you an exact answer but I will try and at least give you a guideline.

You mentioned you had it filled in.  If the ground is pretty well ready to seed I would say the range in prices could be from $ 250.00 to $ 1000.00.   That is probably too wide to help much.  Off the top of my head and without knowing any details my ball park guess would be $ 500.00.   The best thing to do is to call a few people and get some competitive prices.  Ask what kinds of seeds they are going to use and ask what their guarantee is.

Most hydroseeding contactors try real hard to do a good job.  They make out much better when they have a great lawn on the first try.  It is going back and fixing things that can eat away at the cost structure and we all want happy customers who will refer us to thier friends.   You should have a very beautiful lawn before long.   Be sure to follow your contractors suggestions about caring for the lawn.

If you want to post again and let me know where you are I may be able to give you a better idea on costs.
