PLEASE HELP !! I have a Hydroseed prep work question....
« on: June 11, 2012, 02:00:43 PM »
How much would one charge or would it cost,  to do the preparation work for Hydroseed, on a residential property of 32,000 square feet?
This is includes - Spraying existing lawn and weeds, Bob cat with auto rake (tilling), cleaning and leveling property etc. ???   (This is all here in Gainesville Florida)
I've called multiple hydroseed companies and NOBODY does the prep work. Please reply or send email. Thank you.

Depends on your grade, just how much soil disruption you would do. unless it needs a lot of movement, i just like to have an aeration done defore I hydroseed. Machine time is money. We have hills, loose soil moves. soil excavation requires a licensed contractor here.
Here spraying would have to be done by either a licensed individual for lawncare, or you would have to spray it yourself. I Don't know what you are having hydroseeded but I always sprayed with roundup 7 days before hydroseeding. by the time everything was dying the grass started coming in.
I really didn't answer your price question, but maybe i shed a little light on the way we do it here. Price really depends on your local contractors, local market, and time it takes to prepair the surface.

I also do only hydroseeding and no prep work but as a general rule of thumb figure 6-8 cents a square foot.  Of course what needs to be done can change this and everyone sets their own price so you may end up with a better or worse price but I hope this gives you a general idea.

Check the local phone books for companies that do athletic field renovations.  If you can't find any listings you might check with your local Parks & Recreation departments.  Another place to check will be schools or colleges.

Too, you might find a landscape contractor or designer that can provide services or a referral in your area.

Those mutiple hydroseeders you called must know companies that do prep work in your area.

Without seeeing the job, a contractor told me just discing would cost $450.00 for three acres. It  is flat and sandy here in the Gainesvile area. I've been waiting over a year for a certain contractor to do a conventional seeding. My horses have eaten down most of the grass. I've taken out about 30 trees, but the field is pretty flat, just small pasture.Guess I'll do the roundup myself. This is a farming area, so should be able to get a dscing job done if nothing else.
