Landfill cell bid
« on: Mon February 14, 2022, 08:39:25 PM »
I am a first time visitor to the site and would appreciate some general guidance relating to submitting a quote to hydroseed the closing of a landfill cell. The first cell covers about 4 acres and the adjoining areas disturbed by a borrow pit and temporary haul roads cover another 10 acres.  I know there are many factors to consider. The prime contractor will take care of the placement and final grading of all soils. The seed mix and fertilizer is just a standard mix and there is no special provision for any exotic cellulose fiber mulch. Can anyone tell me from their experience what kind of price per square foot other projects like this were done for? I have an hour drive each way each day, water on site is free from a clean pond, seed rates are only 100# per acre and fertilizer is 400# per acre. There are no prevailing wage rates required. I have a new FINN T75T. I want to charge a price that's not too high or too low. Any thoughts?
Thank you.
Don

Thanks for posting your question, Don.   There are enough variables that suggesting a price of x per acre isn't easy.  I would suggest calculating your cost per acre and then multiplying that number by somewhere between 2.5 and 3.   I agree when you have a job you want you don't want to price yourself out of the market and you don't want to price it so low that you are making nothing for your time and use of the machine.

You might want to get a current price on seed since those prices have gone crazy this year.  Nearly all material costs have gone up, but seed seems totally crazy.
